weather:  widely scattered high clouds, light westerly breeze, temp 52 degrees F.

route:  usual route around and through the ponds until I heard shorebirds in the far northwest, whereupon I walked out in that direction.  Usually I give that area a miss.  If there hadn’t been shorebirds out there, then I would not have seen the grasshopper sparrows.
