Who We Are
The Friends of Cosumnes River Preserve is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the conservation, education, outreach, and volunteer programs at the Cosumnes River Preserve.
The Friends of Cosumnes River Preserve nonprofit works closely with the Preserve’s staff and partners to inspire stewardship, provide critical funding, and engage the public in caring for one of California’s last free-flowing rivers and its rich surrounding ecosystems.
Our Mission
To support the Cosumnes River Preserve’s education, science, habitat management, and public outreach efforts—ensuring this vital landscape is protected for generations to come.
What We Do
- Provide funding for interpretive displays, outreach events, and volunteer programs
- Help maintain trails, facilities, and visitor experiences
- Support wildlife research and habitat restoration
- Promote environmental education through events and guided walks
- Connect people of all ages to the beauty of the Preserve

Are you passionate about protecting nature and connecting people to the outdoors? We’re looking for dedicated community members to join the Friends of Cosumnes River Preserve Board of Directors.
As a board member, you’ll help shape the future of our nonprofit, support fundraising and outreach, and play a key role in sustaining the Preserve’s education and conservation programs.
- Quarterly board meetings (remote or in-person)
- Support events, grant work, and volunteer coordination
- Be an ambassador for the Preserve in your community
