The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary team and the Cosumnes River Preserve have teamed up to help protect the environment and enhance the safety of boaters who utilize the preserves waterways. Join the Coast Guard Auxiliary team on Saturday to learn how you can be a safe boater. The US Coast Guard will be providing free brochures, coloring books for the kids, as well as free vessel safety checks.

    Join us for a vernal pool plant excursion at Cosumnes River Preserve on Friday April 26th! This tour will be led by Sara Sweet, Stewardship Ecologist at The Nature Conservancy, and Cynthia Powell, Calflora's Executive Director.

    The Cosumnes River Preserve is in Sacramento County. Here are some of the native plant taxa we might see including Cicendia quadrangularis.

    This excursion will be about 3 miles with 150 foot (50 m) elevation gain; make sure this is a distance you can comfortably accomplish in 3 hours.
