Cosumnes River Preserve Volunteer Opportunities:

Public Restoration Days

The Preserve's Public Restoration Days are great opportunities for YOU to get your hands dirty, enjoy the outdoors, and make an impact on the local environment. The workdays are suitable for most ages and are ideal for Scouts or students looking to achieve service-learning hours. These workdays often take participants into closed areas of the Preserve where they may experience the true wonders of the natural world.

Public Restoration Days always meet at the Preserve's Barn, which is located just a short distance from the Visitor Center. The Barn is located at:

The Barn
6500 Desmond Rd.
Galt, CA 95632

If you plan on participating in a Restoration Workday, please come prepared for the activity. Restoration Workdays begin at 9:00 a.m. and work continues until 3:30 p.m. Most of the day is spent outdoors in rugged terrain so closed-toe shoes, long pants, and long sleeves are required. Volunteers will want to bring a sack lunch and a reusable water bottle--please help us reduce waste. Sun protection and insect are also highly recommended, as well as dressing for unpredictable weather changes.

Workdays will continue as planned, even if it rains. The workday schedule is below or you can view the opportunities under the Activities Schedule link.

For more information, contact the Outreach Coordinator at veselkaa@saccounty.net.

Want to do more? Join HRT

The Habitat Restoration Team (HRT) is an opportunity like none other; open to anyone that wishes to be truly involved with environmental stewardship at the Cosumnes River Preserve. HRT assists Preserve staff with focused conservation projects that allow members to experience more of the Preserve and contribute to its success. HRT members may take advantage of specialized trainings, workshops, and events that are designed to help volunteers become more effective environmental stewards.

HRT is an opportunity to gain practical work experience in restoration and land management while helping to advance the Preserve’s goals to provide sustainable habitats for Central Valley plants and wildlife.

For more details and information on how to become a member of HRT, contact the Outreach Coordinator at veselkaa@saccounty.net.
