Volunteer Opportunity!

Would you like to learn about raptor identification?

The Cosumnes River Preserve is looking for volunteers to participate in their Spring/Summer Raptor Surveys beginning in  March.

No previous experience needed.

This is a great way to learn more about identifying raptors, make lasting friendships and see the areas around the Preserve. Volunteers work in teams of 3 to 4 and travel on predetermined routes identifying and counting raptors. Volunteers need to attend a mandatory training session on February 27, 2019, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Preserve’s Visitor Center, located at 13501 Franklin Blvd. Galt, CA 95632 (An alternate location nearby will be used if Federal Shutdown is still in effect). Volunteers must be willing to dedicate (most) 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month beginning March 13th and ending September 25th, 2019. Surveys take place from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. We understand people go on vacations and will work around absences.
